Answer: I use my PS4 Pro on this monitor in tandem with my PC. Although the black bars are apparent, the resolution and image quality from the monitor is still enjoyable. Yes, the black bars are highly apparent but you eventually get used to them. Furthermore, I have Supersampling enabled on my pro for a much better experience.

Answer: For me, the biggest difference was the color and light. Colors have more punch and the brightness is much better with the newer model. All in all, the older model seems now more washed out in comparison. Hopefully that helps.
